How We Research Articles

Every article on HouseBouse.com is built from sources we can point to. Depending on the topic, that means manufacturer manuals and spec sheets for power tools and hand tools, official documentation from brands and standards bodies, building and electrical codes where they apply, and public data such as product recall notices, safety alerts, and government guidance on home and garden work. We do not invent sources, and we do not cite a source we have not actually read. When a claim cannot be verified against a manual, an official document, or public data, we either leave it out or label it clearly as our own hands-on judgment.

Who Writes the Articles

Articles are written by John, a staff writer at HouseBouse.com. His author archive is at /author/john/. Each post carries an author line so you can see who wrote it. John covers tools, cleaning, construction, electrical, garden, and moving topics for this site.

How Topics Are Chosen

We pick topics based on what homeowners and renters actually search for and ask about. Those topics include tool selection and safe use, cleaning methods that do not damage surfaces, small construction and repair jobs, basic electrical work, seasonal garden tasks, and moving without breaking things. We prioritize topics where a clear answer exists in a manual, a code, or official guidance, and where getting it wrong can cost money or cause injury. We skip topics we cannot research properly.

Independence and Advertising

Recommendations are not for sale. We do not accept payment for placement, and no brand can pay to be featured, ranked higher, or described more favorably. Some articles contain Amazon affiliate product links through the Amazon Associates program. If you buy through one of those links, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That commission does not change what we recommend. We do not run an on-site ad network.

Analytics and embeds on this site are limited to the following. Google Analytics 4 uses cookies to collect anonymous usage statistics. Google Fonts are loaded from Google servers, and YouTube embeds appear in some posts. The comment form is the only form that collects data, and it collects name, email, website, and comment text.

Use of AI Tools

Some drafts are prepared with AI tools as a drafting aid, but a human editor is responsible for the final article and facts are checked against the sources above before publishing.

Corrections and Updates

If you find an error, report it through the comment box on our contact page. Messages sent there arrive in the site admin moderation queue and are not published until approved. We review correction reports and make verified corrections within a few days. When an article changes in a way that affects its meaning, we add a dated update note at the top or bottom of the article so readers can see what changed and when. Minor typo fixes may not get a note.

Safety and Advice Limits

Our niche includes work where mistakes can cause fire, shock, flooding, structural damage, or injury. Articles on electrical, construction, and tool use are general information, not a substitute for a licensed electrician, contractor, or other qualified professional. We state limits where they matter. For example, we do not walk readers through work that legally requires a permit or a licensed trade in their area. Always follow the manufacturer manual for your specific tool or product, and check local codes before starting work. If a job involves your main electrical panel, gas lines, load-bearing walls, or roofing at height, hire a qualified professional.
